IN CRISIS?

Sometimes we can hit a crisis point, where we cannot imagine how we can carry on. Suicidal thoughts can be complex, frightening and confusing, there are people available to support you and to help you make sense of what you’re feeling.

We would encourage you to contact your GP practice and request an emergency appointment. If you need urgent medical help outside surgery hours, but it is not a life-threatening situation, call 111.

You can also contact the Samaritans for free on 116 123, day or night or message Shout - for text support in a crisis. Alternatively pop into our local branch which is open noon-10pm (3 Upper High Street). Sometimes writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you understand them better, email jo@samaritans.org

For confidential support and practical advice you can also call Papyrus HOPELINEUK on 0800 068 41 41. Open 9am -12am (midnight) every day of the year.

Dial 999 or go straight to A&E if your suicidal thoughts are particularly intense right now and/or you have already done something that might put your life in danger, or others at risk.

If you are not at immediate risk but you think about suicide often, a Keep Safe Plan can remind you of where to go for support and strategies that help you as an individual. You may want to ask someone to help you write this, and have a trusted friend or family member keep a copy. For further information on keeping yourself safe click here.

If you are on campus and need urgent support, Site Security are available 24/7 and can be contacted at any time of the day on 01962 827666.
