Useful resources for time management

A calendar or planner

Having somewhere to plan our your days/weeks/months is crucial if you want to stay on top of things. You may want to consider:

  • Utilising an e-calendar such as Google Calendar, Outlook’s Calendar, or Apple’s Calendar – on your phone or laptop.
  • A planner, diary, or notebook. You can purchase academic diaries, daily journals, or blank notebooks depending on your preference and budget.

Using a calendar or planner lets you plan ahead in advance. You can note down deadlines, meetings, and plan out your time – you can also quickly check your calendar or planner to ensure you’re sticking to your plans.

Within your calendar or planner, you may want to consider time blocking.

 

A to-do list

A to-do list is a great way to organize your thoughts and see what tasks you need to do. You can either write these as daily or weekly, depending on your preference. You may wish to write these in your planner or have a separate to do list (you can purchase these online and in stationary shops!). Alternatively, if you’re using a digital calendar like Google Calendar – this has a built in ‘Tasks’ function! Similarly, Apple phones use the ‘Reminders’ app.
