Here at the Student Union we take Student Safety very seriously. Although Winchester is a safe place to live, we want to provide our students with resources and the opportunity to learn about how we can be safer. Below are an array of resources for our students to engage with, should they wish to.
If you have any suggestions, comments or feedback, we would love to hear from you! Fill out the Typeform below to have your say.
If you would like to have a chat about anything on this page or in general, please do contact the Student Union President, Alex at SU_PRES@winchester.ac.uk.
March is Endometriosis Action Month. Endometriosis is when cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. These cells can grow and change in response to hormones in the menstrual cycle, this can cause inflammation, pain and scar tissue. Endometriosis can affect people in different ways such as pelvic pain, painful periods, fatigue, and difficulty getting pregnant, to name a few symptoms.
Whilst studying these symptoms can make it challenging to meet deadlines and attend classes. If you are diagnosed, or are undergoing investigation for endometriosis, you may wish to consider submitting Exceptional Circumstances to provide additional time to complete assessments. You can do this by contacting your Personal Academic Tutor. Or you may wish to contact the Disability and Learning Inclusion team who can apply reasonable adjustments for you if you live with long-term health conditions. You can contact them via disability@winchester.ac.uk or by calling
01962 827341.
You may also wish to contact our free, independent Advice Centre. Our Advice Centre can be accessed by all current University of Winchester students. We aim to support students to make their own informed choices by offering free, impartial advice and information, on a range of matters.
We operate independently from the University of Winchester can advise students on issues such as money worries, wellbeing or problems with housing. If we can’t help you, we will signpost you on to someone who can!
If you require further support and would like to get in touch, please complete our Advice Enquiry Form.
