STUDENT OFFICER, Liv Wrightson

Student Officers have no pre-defined portfolio, but together with the rest of the elected executive committee, will discuss and propose areas of work for the Union, ensuring that all students are represented. Alongside representing student views generally, Student Officer's chosen areas of work will be defined via their manifesto promises.

You can contact student officers to give voice to feedback about any area of your student experience, to ask questions about any area of the Union's work or to provide information that you feel will allow the Union to provide for student need.

MORE ABOUT Liv:

What did/do you study?

I currently study Law! While I'm your student officer, I will be starting my second year! I have enjoyed many moments from my first year, I am very much looking forward to seeing what this academic year holds. Especially as the module available are even more interesting.

What SU run events and activities have you been a part of?

During my first year, I was a part of many! It looks me a while to find my footing and figuring out the socials and events I wanted to take part in. Going into my second year however, I'm Chair of the Commuting Students Network and Vice-chair for Access! I cannot wait to see the events both networks are able to put on for everyone this year. I'm also looking forward to the events that the SU put on this year.

What are your tip Manifesto points?

My main manifesto point was referring to accessibility, it is a topic that I am incredibly passionate about! I'm aiming to help improve the physical accessibility, breaking down social barriers and much more during my time in office.

What made you run in the Elections to become an officer?

At secondary school, I had a massive passion for getting involved in everything I could, this ended up with me leaving secondary school with over 10 different roles. Being able to carry on this passion through my time at University, is what made me want to run in the elections! Alongside an email that recommended me to run! There were many more factors which contributed to me running for student officer, but all that aside, I'm very glad I did.

What's your favourite thing about Winchester?

There are so many things I adore about Winchester, I was born and raised here for starters. Growing up around Winchester and being able to hear personal and general historical facts within the city has always been wonderful for me. I'm incredibly lucky to have a place such as Winchester on my doorstep, especially as there are so many sightseeing spots.

What has been your proudest moment during your student journey (so far)?

I cannot name a specific moment that I am proudest of, as everything I've done has been 'the proudest' moment for me. From starting University, to completing my assignments, running in multiple elections and then getting those roles, to meeting and creating many friends. All these moments are my proudest!

What do you like doing when you aren't being a Winchester SU Officer?

When I'm not being a student officer, I'm most likely studying! But that aside, you can catch me crocheting or reading!

What's your favourite film?

I'm an incredibly indecisive person when it comes to choosing my favourite things, I love a tone of films, all for different and perfectly valid reasons. Because of this, it's practically impossible to make me choose!
