Election Results - Winchester Students' Union Officer Election 2025/2026
Winchester Students' Union Officer Elections have taken place, with nominations from 27th January 2025 until 19th February 2025. Following a period of Candidate Development, campaigning and voting took place from 3rd March until 7th March 2025. Results were announced on 7th March 2025, from 9pm.
Total turnout for the Officer Election was 1649, or 24.6% of eligible voters (turnout 2024/2025, 22.42% - UK Student Union Average, 16%).
Congratulations to all candidates who ran in this year’s elections. They have all done a fantastic job running creative campaigns, and the Students' Union would like to congratulate all candidates, regardless of results.
All Officers-elect will formally take office on the 1st July 2024.
In the election of [Students' Union President] the number of votes cast was [1600]. There is one vacancy and the quota to be elected was 50% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [800] votes.

As quota was met, I can confirm that Alexandra Wilson has been duly re-elected as your Students' Union President 2025/2026.
In the election of [Vice President, Activities & Commercial] the number of votes cast was [1438]. There is one vacancy and the quota to be elected was 50% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [719] votes.

As no candidate reached quota, we remove the candidates with the fewest votes, which are [RON & Jack Nevill] and transfer their next preference votes. Quota is reduced to 674.

As quota was met, I can confirm that George Watkinson-Biddulph has been duly re-elected as your Vice President, Activities & Commercial 2025/2026.
In the election of [Vice President, Education & Welfare] the number of votes cast was [1444]. There is one vacancy and the quota to be elected was 50% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [722] votes.

As no candidate reached quota, we remove the candidates with the fewest votes, which are [RON & Anna Gowman] and transfer their next preference votes. Quota is reduced to 608.

[Arin Davidson] received [46] transfers for a total of [604] votes
As quota was met, I can confirm that MJ Blyth has been duly elected as your Vice President, Education & Welfare 2025/2026.
In the election of [Student Officer] the number of votes cast was [1484]. There are four vacancies and the quota to be elected was 20% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [297] votes.

In stage one, Olivia Wrightson, Jacob Bavin & Eva Gospodinova met quota:

[Jessica Dunipace] received [235] 1st preference votes
[Eva Gsopodinova] received [328] 1st preference votes and met quota
[Olivia Wrightson] received [445] 1st preference votes and met quota
[RON] received [42] 1st preference votes
As noted, Jacob Bavin & Eva Gospodinova met quota and therefore have been duly elected. Olivia Wrightson met quota, and therefore has been duly re-elected.
As 1 further seat is available in this election, and as no further candidates reached quota, Olivia, Jacob & Eva’s surplus votes, above quota, were transferred to next preferences.
In stage 1 transfers, Jesscia Dunipace met quota.
[Jessica Dunipace] received [161] transfers for a total of [396] votes.
[RON] received [2] transfers for a total of [44] votes.
As noted, Jessica Dunipace met quota and has therefore been duly elected. As no further seats remain, we remove the candidate with the fewest votes, which is RON.
I therefore can confirm that Jacob Bavin, Jessica Dunipace, Eva Gospodinova & Olivia Wrightson have been duly elected as your Student Officers for 2025/2026.
