WHAT IS BUCS?

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK. They facilitate and deliver cross-university competition, including national events, and campaigns with an aim to get students active more often, through traditional competitive sport and providing physical activity opportunities.

WHEN DO WE COMPETE?

Most league matches take place on a Wednesday afternoon, with lectures across the University finishing by midday. Some matches and tournaments take place on weekends as well, with this largely dependent on the competition and the sport.

HOW CAN I COMPETE?

By joining one of our competitive sports teams, attending their competitive sports sessions regularly, and paying for membership, you'll be considered as one of our BUCS athletes. Our competitive sports teams will have a trial session at the beginning of the year to recruit their competitive members however, there will be time throughout the year to join to compete at BUCS level.

If you would like to take part in an event but cannot see a current sports team for the event, please contact suactivities@winchester.ac.uk to discuss an individual entry to an event.
